
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez 7 September 1964 is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakout role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) was rewarded with an award nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in addition to other awards. Perez has appeared in a variety of films since the time which include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994) as well as another nomination for her character in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has appeared in stage productions on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she was also a cohost on ABC's talk show The View. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. In 1999, her mother was in poverty in Woodside Houses when she died from AIDS-related complications.
