Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family and service in the local community. First, the Selmon relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on a Eufala farm. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were all All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won the national title twice. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. He then began his professional career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He was captain of the team in 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Fla's athletic department as Director of Athletics as an associate. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame named him as a member in the year the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
